FOSS, or its related terms–free software and open source–has gradually caught the attention of civil societies and governments across the globe. But while Europe and some developed countries have recognized the long-term advantages of using FOSS, Asian developing countries barely give it a serious look.
This is the reason why (I guess) there have been initiatives to put the message across Asia. I myself participated in two recent events: AsiaSource I (held in Bangalore, India) and Asia Commons Conference (held in Bangkok, Thailand).
This week, another Asian FOSS event is being held. It’s actually Part II of the AsiaSource I that I attended. Read what’s going on now in that event.
